Figuring out which Toyota Prius hybrid is right for you!

640 × 480

If you're shopping for a 2018 Toyota Prius model, you'll have three options:

  • Toyota Prius (the one you're probably most familiar with)
  • Toyota Prius c
  • Toyota Prius Prime

Below is a quick overview of the key difference between the three. Here at One Toyota of Oakland, the Prius and Prius Prime are our most well-stocked options, but we always have a few Prius c models on hand.

Fuel Ratings

The Toyota Prius can get up to 54 mpg in the city and 50 mpg on the highway. Choose the 'TWO Eco' trim and you get slightly stronger ratings, thanks to a lighter lithium-ion hybrid battery. The Prius Prime gets up to 55 mpg in the city and 53 on the highway. The Prime is also a plug-in hybrid, so you have up to a 25-mile, all-electric range. The Prius c has the smallest ratings, but they're still quite impressive. In the city you can get up to 48 mpg and up to 43 mpg on the highway.

Size

It's no secret that driving in San Francisco is not for the faint of heart, and if you want to ensure you always parallel park correctly on the first try, or have a car that is easy to maneuver in tricky situations, you'll love the Prius c. This compact version is 16-inches shorter than the Toyota Prius and 20-inches shorter than the Prius Prime, making it a breeze to drive.

Options

  • Toyota Prius: you'll have several trims to choose from. Options include the ONE, TWO/TWO Eco, THREE, THREE Touring, FOUR, and FOUR Touring.
  • Toyota Prius c: choose from the ONE, TWO, THREE, or FOUR.
  • Prius Prime: this model has three, straightforward trims. They are the Plus, Premium, and Advanced.

Safety Features

The Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) package of advanced safety technologies is standard on the Prius and Prius Prime. The package includes the following:

  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Pre-Collision Alert with Pedestrian Detection
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

The smaller Prius c has a standard Toyota Safety Sense C (TSS-C) package. It features the following:

  • Lane Departure Alert
  • Pre-Collision Warning
  • Automatic High Beams

When you buy a Prius model, you have a lot of options for fuel ratings, price, and features. Visit our Oakland dealership this week and we'll help you narrow it down.
